Dr. Flavia Theil
She began her medical education in her native Brazil in 1996, graduating with honors from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Following graduation, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Instituto Fernandes Figueira, where she also completed her post graduate degree in minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Theil completed a second residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Lenox Hill Hospital where she was named chief resident and received numerous accolades including the Compassionate Resident, Best Research and Mentor of the Year awards.
Her practice focuses on a variety of women’s health issues with a focus on preventive care, prenatal care, menopause, fibroids, sexually transmitted diseases, ovarian cysts, contraception, endometriosis, among many others.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Theil contributed in publishing Tratado de Videoendoscopia e Cirurgia Minimamente Invasiva em Ginecologia, one of the most widely used textbooks on Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy in Brazil.
She is fluent in both English and Portuguese.
